Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform easily sort discrimination while forming with a good yield by stamping bead glasses when assembling an electron gun to be sealed in the neck part and fixing constituent members like an electrode or the like to the bead glasses as prescribed. CONSTITUTION:Members 2 like an electrode or the like are inserted into an assembly jig, this is arranged on an assembly device 3, the bead glasses 32 are mounted inside of the V blocks 31 and after these are heated up to a prescribed temperature, the V blocks are moved toward the assembly jig 1 in the arrow direction and the members 2 like the electrode or the like are fixed while their end parts are burried in the bead glasses 32. Next, the stamps 34 and 35 are made on the bead glass surfaces from outside through the through hole 33, by using, for instance, a metal rod. Said bead glass surfaces to be stamped are located on the opposite surfaces to the surfaces wherein the electrode or the like are burried. Thereby, working efficiency can be improved thus being able to form with a good yield and to perform sort discrimination easily.

After arranging the electron gun in this manner, the bead glass is heated to a predetermined temperature, and the bevel tables (4) are moved in the directions shown by the arrows in the figure to embed the ends of the members constituting the electron gun in the bead glass. , each member is fixed to form an electron gun. At this time, spacers are inserted in advance between each part so as to maintain a predetermined interval, and these spacers are removed after being embedded in the bead glass. FIG. 2 shows a partially sectional view of the state formed in this manner.

The strain in the longitudinal direction of the bead glass near where the end of the bead is embedded is compression strain (longitudinal cracks are likely to occur when the bl is large). In order to distinguish between electron guns, the bead glass is colored in various colors, such as yellow, to distinguish between them.

As mentioned above, if the bead glass is distorted, it may be damaged, resulting in defects and lower yields. Also, when bead glass is colored with many different types, different additives are mixed into the glass, so it is difficult to embed the bead glass. Appropriate heating conditions for bead glass during work differ depending on the color, resulting in poor work efficiency and the inability to set stable manufacturing conditions, which causes deterioration in precision.

By stamping the bead glass in this way, the tension strain that previously occurred due to the vertical stamping is alleviated, and the occurrence of horizontal cracks in the bead glass is prevented. The compression strain that had occurred was alleviated, and the occurrence of vertical cracks in the bead glass was prevented. If the shape, size, position, etc. of the engraving are appropriately selected and the engraving is carried out, the firing conditions of the bead glass will be different in the case of conventional classification by color, but in the case of the present invention, the firing conditions will always be constant. By simply heating the bead glass, it became possible to classify electron guns by type with high accuracy.

The present invention is a method for forming an imprint on a bead glass in which the end of a member such as an electrode is embedded when assembling an electron gun sealed in the neck of a cathode ray tube. The distortion that had been occurring can be prevented, and the firing conditions of the bead glass can be kept constant to allow for classification of electron gun types with good viscosity, making it possible to obtain electron guns with high yield and stable quality1. It stabilizes the quality of the sealed cathode ray tubes of these electron guns and is industrially useful.
