Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an amt. of electrostatic charge at the juncture of a photoreceptor, by covering the upper surface of said juncture with a conductive layer, and connecting this conductive layer with that in the photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:A belt-shaped photoreceptor 21 is constituted by forming a conductive layer 23 on a resin film 22, and laminating a photosensitive layer 24 on the layer 23, and joining both ends 21a to obtain an endless belt. Another conductive layer 26 is formed on the juncture 25 by vapor deposition or coating. Both conductive layers are electrically connected at the end 26a of the layer 26 to electrically short both faces 24a, 24b of the photosensitive layer 24 at the juncture 25 of the layers 23 and 26. Hence, no charging occurs during the charging step, and destaticization operation is not needed. Since toner does not attach to the juncture 25, cleaning load is reduced, the inside of the machine is not stained, and dielectric breakdown is prevented, and therefore, the durability of the photoreceptor is enhanced.

In this copying machine, as the belt-like photoreceptor 1 rotates, the charged rollers] Heron 2 first move the Pel 1 to the state photoreceptor 1.
A uniform charge is applied to the surface, and then an electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface of the belt-like photoreceptor by flash exposure 3, and this electrostatic latent image is then made visible by the developing device 4. The toner image obtained by image formation and erosion is transferred to a recording paper 6 supplied from a recording paper roll (not shown) by the pressure of a transfer roll 5.Furthermore, in this copying machine, after this transfer, static electricity is removed: The residual toner on the belt-like photoreceptor 1 and the surface of the belt-like photoreceptor 1 is electrically neutralized using l-Cl 7, and then the residual toner on the surface of the belt-like photoreceptor 1 is neutralized. is removed by the fur brush 8 to clean the surface of the Pel 1 to state light body 1, and then the defrost fan 9 is used to completely remove the static electricity by shining the light onto the surface of the Bell (to state light body 1).
Subsequently, the surface of the bell-shaped photoreceptor 1 is charged again by the IO tron 2. Thereafter, the above operation is repeated.

This bell (~ state light body 1) has a conductive layer 11 formed on a resin film 10, and a photosensitive layer 11 on the conductive layer 11.
The photoreceptor plate on which 2 is formed is cut into a rectangular shape, and both end surfaces 1
A and 1a are simply brought into contact and connected to form a belt shape.

In the belt-shaped photoreceptor 1 manufactured in this way, the connection part 13 has poor photosensitivity, so once the connection part is charged in the charging process, the connection part is removed by a static elimination lamp in the cleaning process. Even with irradiation, the charge could not be removed sufficiently, and the connection portion remained charged.

Therefore, although the connecting portion 13 is a portion that is not used as a photosensitive surface, it is developed in the developing process and reaches one cleaning culm without being transferred.

In addition, in the charging process, in order to uniformly charge the surface of the belt-shaped photoreceptor 1, the discharge current due to corona discharge etc. is controlled to be constant, so that the connecting portion 13 remains charged. By going through the charging process again, the potential of the connection portion is further increased, and dielectric breakdown may occur at the connection portion.

The belt-shaped photoreceptor 21 is composed of a photoreceptor plate in which a conductive layer 23 is formed on a resin film 22, and a photosensitive layer 24 is further formed on the conductive layer. Further, the belt-shaped photoreceptor 21 is obtained by cutting the photoreceptor plate into a rectangular shape, and bringing the both end surfaces 21a, 21a into contact with each other.
a, 21a are welded together into a belt shape. In particular, a conductive layer 26 is formed on the upper surface of the connecting portion 25 by vapor deposition or coating. Moreover, this conductive layer 2
6 has its ends 26a, 26a connected to the Pel 1 to state light body 21.
It is electrically connected to the conductor 1123 inside.

As shown in Figures (b) and (c), both sides 24a and 24b of the photosensitive layer 24, which are connected to the connection portion 25 sandwiched by the conductive layers 23 and 26, are connected to the conductive layers 23 and 26, respectively.
They are electrically short-circuited by 26 and have the same potential. Therefore, the connecting portion 25 is not charged by the culm. Therefore, there is no need to perform static elimination work on the connection portion 25.

The width of the conductive layer 26 is generally desirably in the range of 20 to 30 mm, and the conductive layer 26 is designed so as to completely cover at least the connection portion where the photosensitive characteristics have deteriorated due to welding. All you have to do is pull it.

As explained above, since the connecting portion of the photoreceptor in the copying machine according to the present invention is not charged, toner does not adhere to the connecting portion. Therefore, the load on the cleaning equipment is reduced and no internal contamination occurs. Furthermore, since the potential of the connection portion does not drop all the time, dielectric breakdown does not occur.
