Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 (a)発明の技術分野 本発明は超音波かしめ方法に関する。
(b)技術の背景 金属板或いはプリント板9合成樹脂板などのような非金
属板よりなる板部材に、かしめ孔を穿設し、このかしめ
孔に熱可塑性樹脂よりなるピンを嵌入し、そのピンの先
端を加熱軟化し、さらに圧潰して、超音波かしめするこ
とが、設備費が安価で、容易に板材を固着することがで
きるので、近年は広く行われている。
第1図は一般的な超音波かしめ方法を示す断面図である
第1図において1は固着する一方の板部材である熱可塑
性樹脂板である。3は他方の板部材となる例えばアルミ
ニュウム等の金属板である。この熱可塑性樹脂板1と金
属板3とを所望の間隔を保持して固着する手段として超
音波がしめ加工することが行われている。
熱可塑性樹脂板1には固着間隔に等しい高さのボスIA
が設けられ、ボスIAの先端には、金属板3のかしめ孔
3Aを貫通するピン2が設けられている。そしてピン2
の先端は、金属板3の表面よりも圧潰できる長さだけ突
出している。
4は図示してない超音波発振器にコード接続された溶圧
ツールである。溶圧ツール4は手で握持する外筒5の内
部に超音波振動子6が装着されている。7はこの超音波
振動子6に連結され、先端部が外筒5の下方に突出した
金属材よりなる棒形のホーンである。
外筒5の外側に装着された発振レバー8を押すことによ
り、超音波発振器と超音波振動子6とが電気的に接続さ
れ、超音波振動子6が駆動しホーン7は軸心方向に振動
する。
溶圧ツール4を手で持ち、このように振動しているホー
ン7の先端面を、ピン2の先端部に圧接すると、ピン2
の先端部は内部加熱され軟化する。
そして溶圧ツール4を押圧して、ホーン7の先端面でピ
ン2の先端部を圧すると、ピン2の先端部は圧潰されて
金属板3の表面に密着する。したがって熱可塑性樹脂板
1と金属板3とは固着される。
超音波かしめ方法とは、このように超音波振動するホー
ンの先端で熱可塑性樹脂よりなるピンの先端部を軟化圧
潰して、金属板或いはプリント板。
合成樹脂板などのような非金属板よりなる板部材同志、
あるいは板状でない他の部品を板状部品に固着する方法
である。
しかし超音波かしめにおいては、ホーンの形状、あるい
は溶圧ツールの押圧方法が適正であることが要求されて
いる。
(C)従来技術と問題点 第2図は従来の超音波かしめ方法の一例を示す図で(イ
)は断面図、(ロ)はかしめ後の断面図であり、第3図
は従来の超音波かしめ方法の他の一例を示す図で(イ)
は断面図、(ロ)はかしめ後の断面図である。な全図を
通じて同一符号は同一対象物を示す。
第2図においてホーン8の圧接端面は凹面に形成されて
いる。このようなホーン8でピン2の先端部を加熱軟化
せしめ、圧接端面の突出した外周縁が、金属板3の表面
に当接するまで、ホーン8を押圧して、ピン2の先端部
を圧潰し、かしめる方法である。
このように凹面形状の圧接端面で圧潰するので、かしめ
られたピン2の先端部は茸形の凸部となって金属板3の
かしめ孔3Aの上部に圧着する。よって十分の肉厚があ
り、かしめ強度が強い。
しかしながらホーン8は上下に超音波振動しているので
、凹面状の圧接端面をピン2の先端部に圧接した場合に
、ピン2の先端面とホーン8の圧接端面間で踊り横滑り
を起こし易い。
圧接端面をピン2の先端部に圧接した場合に、ピン2の
先端面とホーン8の圧接端面間で踊り横滑りを起こし易
い。
その結果第2図(ロ)のようにホーン8の軸心とピン2
の軸心がずれて、ピン2の軸心よりずれた茸形の圧潰部
が生ずる。このためかしめ孔3Aの一部の縁から外れて
、かしめ強度が弱くなる恐れがある。
第3図のホーン9は、このピン2との軸心ずれを阻止す
るために、圧接端面が凹凸面に形成されている。そして
かしめ孔3Aの上縁を面取りして、テーパ一部3Bを設
けである。
このようなホーン9で超音波かしめをすると第3図(ロ
)のように、ピン2の先端部はテーパ一部3Bに充填さ
れて逆台形に圧潰される。よって圧潰部の強度が十分に
ある良好のかしめをすることができる。
しかしかしめ孔3Aの上縁を面取りする煩わしさがある
ばかりでな(、金属板3が薄板の場合には、面取りがで
きなくなり、かしめ孔3Aが拡張されてかしめが不可能
になる恐れがある。
(d)発明の目的 本発明の目的は上記従来の問題点に鑑み、ホーンの圧接
端面を改良することにより、面取りが不必要でかしめ作
業が容易でかつ、強度の強い超音波かしめ方法を提供す
ることにある。
le)発明の構成 この目的を達成するために本発明は、圧接端面が凹凸面
で該凹凸面の外周部に板部材の表面に当接するストッパ
が設けられたホーンを使用し、熱可塑性樹脂よりなるピ
ンを該板部材のかしめ孔に嵌入し、該板部材の表面に突
出した該ピンの先端部を軟化圧潰するようにして、該ホ
ーンがずれることを阻止し、かつ該ストッパにより該圧
接端面と該板部材の表面の間に肉厚の厚い圧潰部を構成
するようにしたものである。
(f)発明の実施例 以下図示実施例を参照して本発明について詳細に説明す
る。
第4図は本発明の一実施例を示す図で、(イ)は断面図
、(ロ)はホーンの圧接端面の平面図、(ハ)はかしめ
後の断面図である。
第4図において円柱状のホーン10の圧接端面には、例
えば多数の直交する■溝により形成される角錐13が並
設された凹凸面12が設けられている。また凹凸面12
の外周部には高さHbのストッパ11が4個等ピッチに
並設されている。このストッパ11の高さHbは、かし
めた状態のピン2の圧潰部の高さに等しい所望の寸法で
、金属板30表面に突出したピン2の突出高さHaより
も小さいものである。
このようなホーン9で超音波かしめをするとストッパ1
1の側壁がガイドなり、ホーン10の軸心をピン2の軸
心に合わせることが容易である。
また振動している凹凸面12をピン2の先端部に圧接し
ても、角錐13の突部がピン2の先端面に食い入り摩擦
抵抗が大きくなり、横滑りを起こすことがない。
またホーン10を十分に強くピン2の先端部に押圧して
も、ストッパ11の先端面が、金属板3の表面で係止す
るので、圧潰部の高さが所望の値に保つことができ、第
4図(ハ)のようにかしめ孔3Aの軸心にほぼ一致した
台形の圧潰部を形成することができる。即ち圧潰部の強
度が十分にある良好のかしめをすることができる。
なお本発明は図示例のように熱可塑性樹脂板と金属板と
を固着するばかりでなく、熱可塑性樹脂のピンを使用す
ることにより、他の金属材よりなるリベットと同様に金
属板同志のかしめにも、またプリント板等のように金属
リベットではかしめることのできない部品のかしめにも
適応することができる。
(g)発明の詳細 な説明したように本発明は、ホーンの圧接端面を改良し
たことにより、かしめ部分の面取りなどの段取り作業が
不要となり、またホーンの横振れを容易に阻止すること
ができかしめ作業が容易で、且つかしめ強度が安定して
強いなどという実用上で優れれた効果のある超音波かし
め方法である。

第1図は一般的な超音波かしめ方法を示す断面図、第2
図は従来の超音波かしめ方法の一例を示す図で(イ)は
断面図、(ロ)はかしめ後の断面図、第3図は従来の超
音波かしめ方法の他の一例を示す図で(イ)は断面図、
(ロ)はかしめ後の断面図であり、第4図は本発明の一
実施例を示す図で(イ)は断面図、(ロ)゛はホーンの
圧接端面の平面図、(ハ)はかしめ後の断面図である。 図中1は熱可塑性樹脂板、2はピン、3は金属板、3A
はかしめ孔、4は溶圧ツール、7,8゜9.10はホー

Claims (1)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 圧接端面が凹凸面で該凹凸面の外周部に板部材の表面に
    当接するストッパが設けられたホーンを使用し、熱可塑
    性樹脂よりなるピンを該板部材のかしめ孔に嵌入し、該
    板部材の表面に突出した該ピンの先端部を軟化圧潰する
    ことを特徴とする超音波かしめ方法。
