Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform transmission of light in an easy and efficient manner in a unit which performs the light transmission between a photo signal generating means and a photo signal processing means which are disposed on the upper and the lower side of a steering wheel by providing a light guide passage at a part of said wheel where a light transmission path is cut off. CONSTITUTION:A pad 2 is disposed at the upper and middle site of the upper part of a steering wheel 1 and a light transmission and receival processing part 3 is disposed at the lower site thereof which is on the side of a car body. A photo switch device 4 which is a photo signal generating means and a light guide passage 5 which transmits light thereto are included in said pad 2. On the other hand, a luminescent element 7 and a light receiving element 8 are included in the processing part 3 and face to light guide passages 9 and 10 which opposed to the light-in end 5a and a light-out end 5b of the light guide passage 5, respectively. Light guide passage 11 are formed in the wheel 1 at the positions where a spoke 1c thereof meets the lights paths. The spoke 1c may therefore be prevented from cutting off the light paths and the desired purpose be attained.

(Prior Art) Recently, in automobiles, in order to operate various electrical devices such as headlights and radios, a control device such as a computer and an optical signal transmission device are mounted on the vehicle body, and the necessary signals are sent to the optical signal transmission device. The device is configured to generate a signal, send it to a computer through optical-electrical exchange, and generate a necessary control signal to an electrical device. According to this, the control system can be simplified and the wiring can be omitted by using optical wavelength multiplexed signals or the like.

In this type of optical signal transmission device, spokes of the steering wheel are interposed in the optical transmitting/receiving section consisting of the end of the light guide at the top end of the steering wheel and the end of the light guide in the pad opposite thereto. This causes a problem in that the spoke portions become light shielding objects that block the optical path.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In the optical signal transmission device, when the optical path is blocked by the spokes of the steering wheel and the optical transmission is blocked, it is possible to form at least two optical paths as in the past. This method of always ensuring optical transmission in the optical path requires a complicated shape of the light guide path and requires multiple light transmitting and receiving elements, which reduces the light transmission efficiency and increases the manufacturing cost. I have a problem.

The light transmitting/receiving processing section (3) internally includes a light emitting element (7) and a light receiving element (8). For example, a lamp, a light emitting diode, or the like is used as the light emitting element (7), and a predetermined electric power is supplied to generate the required light. The plates (IIA) and (IIB) are made of, for example, acrylic plates. As shown in FIG. 3, the plate material (IIA) has a reflective surface (12) inside thereof, and forms a bent optical path (Ll) so as to go around the spokes (lc). Light entrance (

On the other hand, the plate material <118) does not have a reflective surface as described above, as shown in FIG. 4, and the optical path (L9) is formed linearly in the vertical direction. Therefore, the upper surface part (IIB-1) of the plate material (IIB) forms the light incident surface, and the lower surface part (IIB-1) forms the light incident surface.

According to the above, when each of the opposing end surfaces of the light guide paths (5) and (10) is at the position (P) or (Q) in FIG. When the end face is at the position (R), an optical path is formed by the plate material (IIA). When the end faces of the light guide paths (5) and (10) are at the position (P) or (Q), the plate material (IIA)
Since the light is reflected outward by the reflective surface (12), it is not possible to form an optical path. Also, each end face is (R)
When the plate material (IIB) is in the position shown in FIG. Therefore, as mentioned above, as the spokes (lc) move due to the rotation of the steering wheel, the plate material (IIA

Since the light guide section (11) having the structure as described above is attached to the spokes (lc) of the steering wheel (1), the light guide paths (9), (10) and the light guide path (5) are attached to the spokes (lc) of the steering wheel (1). ), an optical path can be secured without being blocked by the spokes (lc).

(Effects of the Invention) As is clear from the explanation in F below, according to the present invention, in an optical signal transmission device that transmits light or optical signals by interposing a steering wheel in the middle of an optical path, Since a light guide section is provided to form an optical path, there is no need to provide two optical transmission lines, and the number of parts can be reduced and manufacturing costs can be reduced while maintaining high optical transmission efficiency. . Further, when forming a bent optical path so as to go around the spoke, the optical path can always be ensured because the light guide plate having a straight optical path and the light guide plate having a bent optical path are stacked.
