Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent strain of the bent-edge part, which occurs when a bent- edge sealing member for a ball bearing is caulked into a sealing groove of the outer race, by making a required number of holes along the bent-edge part of the said sealing member. CONSTITUTION:Holes 1 are drilled at a constant interval in the bent part 3 of a bent-edge part 2. As a result, when a sealing member is caulked into the sealing groove 5 of an outer race 4, the bent-edge part 2 is fitted into the sealing groove 5 in such a state that the peripheral piece 7 of the bent-edge part 2 is bent inward. However, the strain, which occurs at the bent-edge part 2 in such a state as described above, is absorbed by the holes 1 of the bent-edge part 2, thereby ensuring proper sealing.
