Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a traveller for spinning frame, having excellent abrasion resistance, etc., by coating the spinning frame traveller made of hard steel wire or alloy steel wire by cobalt plating, applying a titanium carbide layer on the cobalt layer by evaporation, and further applying a titanium nitride layer thereto. CONSTITUTION:The spinning frame traveller 1 made of a hard steel wire or alloy steel wire is plated with cobalt 2 e.g. in a cobalt sulfate solution. At least the surface of the traveller contacting with a ring is coated with a titanium carbide layer 3 by the chemical vapor deposition in a gaseous atmosphere composed of TiCl4, H2, CH4 and N2 at 850-1,050 deg.C, and further with a titanium nitride layer 4. The coated product is hardened and surface-polished to obtain the objective traveller. EFFECT:It has high compatibility with the ring and high corrosion resistance, etc., suppresses the generation of end breakage and fluffing, and is suitable also for spinning of flame-retardant fiber.

However, under the harsh operating conditions in today's textile mills,
Conventional spinning travelers lack abrasion resistance, causing premature wear, unstable running of the traveler, frequent yarn breakage and fuzz generation, premature seizure and scattering of the traveler, and shortened ring life. The disadvantage was that it was shorter.

For this reason, in order to improve the wear resistance of the traveler, it has been considered to plate the traveler with chrome, but although chrome plating has high hardness, it does not fit well with the ring.
At the early stage of spinning, the spinning force becomes very high, causing frequent yarn breakage or cracks on the plating surface.
This caused problems such as peeling and wear, which caused abnormal wear on the traveler.

The trapeller for a spinning machine of the present invention has the above-mentioned configuration. As shown in Fig. 2, the trapeller for a spinning machine A of the present invention has an outermost surface hardness of Hv 1900 to 2500, and the next layer has a hardness of Hv 8800 to 2500.
Since it is made of a 4000% titanium carbide layer, it has much higher hardness than the conventional Trapeller B for spinning machines. 2. The outermost titanium nitride layer has a slightly lower hardness than the titanium carbide layer, has a low coefficient of friction, is smooth, and fits well with the ring.

Effects of the Invention The trapeller for a spinning machine of the present invention is made of a hard steel wire or an alloy steel heel, and at least on the surface that contacts the ring, a cobalt plating layer, a titanium carbide layer, and a titanium nitride layer have good adhesion to the base material. The layered structure provides excellent abrasion resistance, allows stable running of the ah trapper over a long period of time, has good compatibility with the ring, prevents frequent thread breakage, suppresses the occurrence of fuzz, and extends the life of the trapella. It can be significantly extended. Furthermore, since the titanium nitride layer contributes to improving corrosion resistance, this invention has excellent effects such as being able to prevent rusting of the trapella even when used for spinning flame-retardant fibers.
