Currently, a hollow mold with vertical openings is immersed in molten metal, or molten metal is supplied into a mold with built-in heating means, and a dummy ingot is used to adhere to the molten metal in the mold. In upward continuous casting, which continuously forms a solidified metal on the lower surface of a dummy ingot by pulling up the ingot, the solidified shell of the ingot is formed near the upper end of the mold, resulting in a beautiful mirror-like surface of the ingot. It is attracting attention as a manufacturing method with

The present invention aims to provide a cooling device for effectively cooling the ingot and eliminating the risk of explosion due to water leakage in such upward continuous casting equipment. Cooling water is poured into a cooling water reservoir that has been installed with a space for It is designed to be cooled by bringing it into contact with. An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.

Figure 1 is a cross-sectional view showing one embodiment of the ingot cooling device of the present invention. The ingot can be obtained arbitrarily depending on the cross-sectional shape of the hollow part of the mold, but the figure is an example of continuous casting of a plate-shaped ingot. shows. As shown in the figure, 1 is a molten metal holding furnace, and molten metal 2 is supplied into the holding furnace 1 from an inlet 3 and discharged from an overflow port 4. Reference numeral 5 denotes a hollow mold that opens upward and downward, houses a heating element 6, is connected to a mold fixing mechanism 7, and is immersed in the molten metal 2. Reference numeral 8 denotes a cooling water reservoir for the ingot cooling device, and as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, a space is provided for the plate-shaped ingot 9 to pass through, and the two cooling water reservoirs 8 and 8 are fixed to the cooling device. The cooling water is installed close to the upper end of the mold 5 by a mechanism 10, and cooling water enters through an inlet 8a and is discharged from an outlet 8b. On the other hand, a large number of thin wires or strips 11 are embedded diagonally upward in the inner wall of the cooling water reservoir 8, that is, the wall facing the ingot 9, so that when the ingot 9 is pulled up, it comes into contact with the ingot 9 and is cooled. It's summery. In addition, in order to enhance the cooling effect, it is preferable to increase the contact area with the thin wire or strip 11 as much as possible. In addition, in order to make it difficult to damage the surface of the ingot 9, the tip of the thin wire or strip 11 is
It is also effective to have a hemispherical shape as shown in the figure.
Further, the thin wire or strip 11 is preferably made of a material having excellent heat conductivity and high elasticity, such as a copper wire. Further, in order to reduce damage to the ingot 9, the protruding portion of the thin wire or strip 11 near the lower end may be made slightly shorter in some cases to reduce friction of the ingot 9 in the high temperature section.

First, the ingot dummy 12 is brought into contact with the hot water surface in the hollow part of the mold 5 from the space between the cooling water reservoirs 8 and 8, and when it is gently pulled up with the pinch roller 13, the ingot dummy 11
At the same time that the metal solidified body adheres to the lower surface and exits the mold 5, the ingot 9 is cooled one after another via the upwardly directed thin wires or strips 11 attached to the cooling water reservoirs 8, 8, and the ingot 9 is continuously cooled. is manufactured. In this case, since the cooling water does not come into direct contact with the ingot 9, an explosion due to water leakage does not occur.

In this way, the present invention does not use cooling water directly to cool the ingot, but rather uses thin wires or strips directed upwards from the cooling water reservoir, so the surface of the ingot is less likely to be damaged, and water leakage is prevented. This has the advantage that there is no need to worry about explosions due to
