Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce electrical cross-talk caused by stray capacity, by making the shape of the bonding pad in such a way that no parallel section exist at a portion most adjacent to the neighboring bonding pad. CONSTITUTION:In a device including a number of light receiving sections arrayed in parallel, electrical cross-talk develops generally in the device having electrostatic coupling between bonding pads of respective elements. The bonding pad sections 13a, 13b,... have a lozenge shape, and do not have a section parallel to the neighboring bonding pad section in the pullout electrode direction. Thus the stray capacity can be reduced to about 2/3 and the electrical cross-talk can be reduced.

(Prior Art) A pyroelectric infrared detection element is a thermal photodetection element made of a pyroelectric material and a pair of electrodes. Pyroelectric materials absorb light and develop an electric charge on their surfaces as the temperature increases. This charge must be detected electrically. The characteristics of this pyroelectric photodetector are:
The sensitivity is less dependent on light wavelength, and the response is relatively fast and the sensitivity is high at room temperature.

In order to improve spatial resolution, it is desirable for an infrared detection element in which elements are arranged in parallel or in a near array type to have a structure as fine as possible. However, a fine arrangement causes thermal crosstalk due to thermal diffusion between adjacent elements and electrical crosstalk due to stray capacitance between adjacent electrodes.
