The characteristic outline of the shadow and reflective part of one electronic component is collected at multiple locations, and the installation status of the electronic component on the board is determined from the data of these multiple outlines. Electronic components can be recognized using multiple outline data that characterizes electronic components, and feature point data processing is possible. From the positional relationship of the parts, it is possible to calculate the mounting position of the electric component on the board; δ or its angular deviation, as well as the position of its center point, etc., making it possible to inspect the mounting state with high precision.
