The semi-trailing type suspension, in which the swing arm's mounting axis on the vehicle body side (swing axis) is set diagonally to the vehicle body center line, allows freedom of selection such as roll center height, camber change between empty vehicle capacity, tread change, etc. It has the advantage of being able to lower the vehicle floor and reduce the width of the wheel house, and is widely used mainly in rear suspensions.

On the other hand, when it comes to the rear suspension of automobiles,
When the car turns and the car body rolls,
It is desired to strengthen understeering by toeing in the outer wheel (bump side) and toeing out the inner wheel (reband side), and therefore various rear suspensions that cause toe-in changes when bumping have been proposed. For example, German Patent Publication No. 2,729,962 discloses a semi-trailing type suspension in which toe-in changes are obtained when bumping by adjusting the mounting angle of an additional link and an arm bush.

However, the above-mentioned suspension requires not only an additional link but also a special setting of the mounting angle of the arm bushing, making manufacturing and assembly complicated.

Furthermore, Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 57-407 includes a restraining rod member having one end pivoted to the suspension member at a position below the pivot of the suspension arm, and the other end pivoted near the rear end of the suspension arm. A trailing arm suspension is disclosed. In this suspension as well, a toe-in change can be obtained at the time of a bump due to the action of the above-mentioned restraint rod member, but this suspension also requires a separate special restraint rod member, which complicates manufacturing and assembly, leading to increased costs. have.

The semi-trailing type suspension for an automobile of the present invention has a normal semi-trailing arm, that is, a forked arm at the front end, and the tips of these forked arms swing to the subframe or the vehicle body through rubber bushes. In a semi-trailing suspension for an automobile, the semi-trailing arm is movably supported and rotatably supports a wheel at the rear end, and is equipped with a stabilizer, wherein the terminal end of the stabilizer is attached to the bifurcated arm. is rotatably supported by an arm on the outside of the vehicle body, and an inner portion of the terminal end thereof is set parallel to the swing axis of the forked arm, and this parallel portion is parallel to the swing axis of the forked arm. It is characterized in that it is rotatably supported by a subframe or the vehicle body about a rotation axis set below a plane including a rotation axis and a rotation center of the terminal end of the stabilizer.

When the stabilizer is formed as described above, when the semi-trailing arm swings upward during a bump, the stabilizer support point of the arm on the outside of the vehicle body will be determined by the difference between the rotation trajectory caused by the swing of the arm and the rotation trajectory of the above-mentioned stabilizer. This allows it to be pulled towards the front of the vehicle. If the outside of the semi-trailing arm is pulled toward the front of the vehicle body, the wheels supported by the arm will naturally undergo a toe-in change.

The suspension of this example is formed as a rear suspension, and only the suspension for the left rear wheel is shown in the figure, but of course the suspension for the right rear wheel is symmetrical with the one shown with respect to the center line of the vehicle body. It is formed. Semi-trailing arm 1
The front end is branched into an inner arm 1a and an outer arm 1b, forming a forked arm. These inner arm 1a and outer arm 1b are each supported by arm support members 3 and 4 fixed to a subframe 2 of the vehicle body so as to be swingable about a common swing axis X. FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along the line -2 in FIG. 1, and as shown in detail in FIG. has been done. Although not shown in the figure, the inner arm 1a is also connected to the arm support member 3 through a similar rubber bushing.

When the semi-trailing arm 1 and the semi-trailing arm for the right rear wheel (not shown) swing by the same amount in the same vertical direction, the stabilizer 22
rotates as a whole using the stabilizer support member 23 and a similar right rear wheel stabilizer support member (not shown) as bearings, but if the left and right semi-trailing arms swing in different amounts or in different directions, Twisting occurs in the central straight section. This torsional stiffness increases suspension roll stiffness.

The above is the action of a general stabilizer,
In the semi-trailing type suspension of this embodiment, the terminal end of the stabilizer 22 is supported by the semi-trailing arm 1 and the subframe 2 as described above, so the semi-trailing arm 1 swings upward when bumping. When doing this, the radius R 2 in Figure 2
The stabilizer terminal end 22a, which is attempting to rotate and move on a rotational locus of radius R1 , pulls the link shaft 21, which is about to rotate and move on a rotational locus of radius R1, toward the front side of the vehicle body. As a result, the outer arm 1b of the semi-trailing arm 1 supporting the link shaft 21 is pulled toward the front of the vehicle body, resulting in a toe-in change of the wheel 6. Semi-trailing arm 1 at this time
and the displacement of the stabilizer 22 are mainly caused by the rubber bushing 5 of the outer arm 1b and the inner arm 1.
Rubber bushing a, and rubber bushing 2
Absorbed by 4,25. Therefore, if the link mechanisms including the stabilizer 22 are the same, the amount of displacement of the semi-trailing arm 1 in the toe-in direction depends on the elastic settings of these rubber bushes. Further, the amount of displacement of the semi-trailing arm 1 naturally changes depending on the settings of the link mechanism, that is, the radii R 1 and R 2 and the relative positional relationship of the stabilizer support member 23 with respect to the swing axis X.

In the embodiment described above, the center of rotation of the terminal end of the stabilizer 22 is set parallel to the swing axis of the semi-trailing arm 1, but if the distortion can be absorbed by the rubber bushing, these rotation It does not matter if the axis and the swing axis form an angle. Further, the semi-trailing arm and the stabilizer may be directly supported on the vehicle body without using a subframe.

As explained in detail above, the semi-trailing type suspension for automobiles according to the present invention uses a simple mechanism in which the shape of the terminal end of the stabilizer and the mounting condition are slightly changed compared to the conventional ones, so that the semi-trailing type suspension of the automobile can be easily moved when bumping. The toe-in change is extremely easy to manufacture and assemble, making it suitable for practical use.
