[Detailed Description of the Invention] (Industrial Field of Application) The present invention is characterized by its stickiness and poor shape stability.
It relates to the introduction of explosive material into a gunpowder cylinder, which must be handled in the "open" state, i.e. in a container or nl, without being closed.

More particularly, the invention relates to the charging of so-called emulsion slurries into powder cylinders. The emulsion slurry is characterized by containing a liquid phase in which oxidized salts are decomposed and diffused into a continuous hydrocarbon phase. A characteristic of the emulsion slurry is that it adheres to virtually all kinds of materials, including polyfluorinated polymeric hydrocarbons (such as Teflon).

In particular, the present invention relates to charging said emulsion slurry into a gunpowder cylinder at elevated temperatures at a temperature of about 100 DEG C., the usual temperature for fresh emulsion slurries. At this stage, the emulsion slurry is relatively fluid and easy to pump, but after the shear forces that kept it flowing through the pumps and tubes have ceased, the emulsion slurry remains at the high temperature mentioned above. Since it has a yield point, it has a certain degree of structural rigidity. However, once solidified to a certain extent, the shape stability becomes good at low temperatures.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Emulsion slurries have been placed into powder barrels in the form of "sausages." That is, the gunpowder material is pumped through an orifice and placed in a cylindrical plastic film formed by longitudinal welding 11 to the plastic film in the vicinity of said orifice, and then pleated in said "hose" by a suitable distance N1. At these crimped locations two sealing devices are installed, between which the "hose" is finally cut. This gunpowder charging method has the advantage of being continuous, and allows the manufacturing process to proceed linearly even when the gunpowder material is in a high temperature state. As such, the explosive material accumulates and cools, eliminating the need for any device to continuously cool the explosive material.

The "sausage"-shaped powder barrel has a characteristic rounded end with protruding sections of plastic material folded over one another. The Fire'J8 cylinder has shown to be disadvantageous for horizontal hole loading because it sticks during loading or because it can easily become wedged against the hole by adjacent powder cartridges.

Therefore, for use with horizontal holes, paper-wrapped powder cartridges are preferred since no wedging effect will occur during loading if the paper wrapper is neatly folded at the ends. The emulsion slurry can be made in a powder cartridge of the type by extruding the powder through an outlet tube located above the powder tube shell of the Its gunpowder shell, which is bent at one end. The method includes periodically interrupting the extrusion of the powder so that the filled cartridge can be replaced with an empty cartridge. However, this method is extremely problematic because it is difficult to make and handle a long powder barrel when it is empty, and it is difficult to completely fill it from the bottom.

Powder cartridge loading machines are commercially available that operate rapidly and reliably and have been found to be well suited for loading conventional gunpowder, such as guynamite, into long cartridges. The operating principle of one type of these machines is that the gunpowder is divided into slabs, i.e., a charge into a pre-cut gunpowder cylinder, and the charge is separated from a rolled sheet of gunpowder material of uniform thickness into said slab by a movable knife. After the slab is transferred to the powder tube wrapper, the machine then wraps said paper around the slab and finally cuts the end of the powder tube. Fold it. A machine of this type is sold by Niepman A/G of West Germany under the trade name "Rollex".

Even in cool conditions, which require either sufficient holding time or some type of specialized tarp, the explosive will not be able to absorb any parts of the equipment it comes into contact with, even if they are coated with Teflon or similar materials. Stick to parts. Particularly troublesome is the sticking of gunpowder to the knives that cut the slabs from the rolled powder, and to the parts of the machine that press these slabs from said knives onto the powder tube wrapper, on which the sticky material is deposited. Therefore, proper gunpowder loading cannot be achieved.

The above-mentioned troublesome situation becomes more serious as the temperature of the respective materials increases, and so far it has been found that the above-mentioned types of explosive materials can only be used if the gunpowder material essentially has said temperature as it comes out of the manufacturing process. Some devices have made it impossible to charge emulsion slurry into gunpowder barrels.

Fact 1: Although emulsion slurries are generally sticky to all materials, it has been found that they surprisingly do not stick to wet surfaces to a great extent. At least depending on the type of material, it takes some time for it to become noticeably sticky to wet surfaces. Furthermore, it has been found that if the water-moistened material is porous and the pores are filled with water, then sticking is virtually eliminated. Under the trade name Vyon F (porous polyethylene), Volva Air Limited, Industrial Division (Porvain Lta+1ted, rndu
The emulsion slurry has been found to be virtually non-adhesive to porous plastic materials such as those produced by strialDiv, Inc., or to natural products such as balsa wood, if both are completely submerged in water. , the type of porous material does not seem to be important. Furthermore, it has been found that cellulose-like materials appear to be particularly suitable for keeping the water film precisely adhered to the surface, which prevents the sticking of emulsion slurries.

Primarily, among such cellulose-like materials, wood is considered a suitable structural material for certain functional parts of powder casing machines intended to handle emulsion slurries. Examples of other materials with physical properties corresponding to those of wood in the wet state include paper and cotton cloth, both of which come into contact with explosive materials, but are also useful as coatings for parts for which wood is not suitable. It is also appropriate. Balsa is porous and rich in hillose, and is a type of vine that is well used in various parts of machines that feed emulsion slurries into gunpowder barrels.

In general, the invention consists of a method of keeping parts of the gunpowder casing rock moist with water that come into contact with the gunpowder material; however, depending on the parts of the machine and whether or not they are movable, wetting by water is not possible. It is clear that this can be provided by various means. The means are also selected depending on the material with which the machine parts are treated or coated.

The choice of material for the conveyor belt 11 over which the explosive material is fed and advanced is not critical. Usually the belt is made of rubber and some degree of adhesion between the powder material and the belt is not critical to the casing process. However, if desired, the rubber belt may be coated with an I4 material which provides a good water-wetting surface to the explosive material, such as paper or cotton cloth.

However, for certain other parts of the machine, it is generally necessary to choose materials that are significantly more porous than wood. In that case, it is preferable to provide water wetting by providing a porous material as a wall separating the explosive material from the water supply, so that water flows slowly through this porous wall towards the explosive material. . Such an arrangement is particularly advantageous for fixed guides 5 regulating the width of the sheet 7 of explosive material. In this arrangement, the water supply is conveniently connected to the channel system of the support material, and the water level should be maintained within said channel system at a slightly higher level than the top of the porous wall. A suitable porous material for the guide is Vyon F as mentioned above.

The part of the gunpowder charger that is clearly the most problematic with regard to gunpowder material adhesion is the butcher 8, which cuts the gunpowder filler 13 from a rolled sheet and cuts it from the knife 12 into the gunpowder roll. It has been found that by selecting the materials as described above, surprisingly little water is required to prevent adhesion. In practice, it has been found that the water supply to the nozzle and porous member should be regulated to eliminate any visible drainage from the machine. No significant increase in water content of the emulsion slurry was observed, which was only a few tenths of a percent.
It is not considered to be of any significance compared to the usual water content of 8-15 percent in the material. However, the total water intake is more than what the emulsion slurry absorbs. This is because various parts of the machine are maintained at four temperatures due to the heat ω of the emulsion slurry when it enters the rock where the gunpowder barrels are placed, and a certain amount of water evaporates from the related systems.
