Abstract

PURPOSE:A powerful insect repellent that contains 3-hydroxy-2-butanone as an active ingredient, thus manifesting excellent insect-repelling effect even with a small amount and maintaining the effect for a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:3-Hydroxy-2-butanone is used as an active ingredient. The compound is subliming and the vapor has good insecticidal activity as well as excellent insect-repelling effect, i.e., effective against specific insects such as clothes moth with reduced toxicity to men and animals without contamination and damage to clothes. Thus, the compound can be expected to substitute conventional insect repellents. As it is liquid at room temperature, a suitable carrier such as cardboard, woven cloth or porous material is impregnated with the compound or solidified with a gelling agent into the objective preparation. At this time, the compound may be used in the single form or in combination with other substances.

。)が昇華性を有し、その気散ガスによる殺虫性が優れ
ていることを見出し本発明に到達した。
