A structure as shown in FIG. 2 is known. That is, a support 2, which is provided to hold a rotor 1 that rotates together with the wheels, supports a pair of front and back pads 3a and 3b so as to be able to freely slide in the front and back directions of the page, and a slight sliding portion is attached to the top of the support 2. The end of a piston 5 housed in a movably locked caliper 4 is brought into contact with the back surface of the inner pad 3a, and a caliper claw 4a formed on the outer end of the caliper 4,
The inner surface of the pad 4a is brought into contact with the back surface of the outer pad 3b. When braking, pressurized oil is supplied to the cylinder in the caliper 4 and the inner pad 3a is pressed against the side of the rotor 1 via the piston 5. As a reaction, the caliper 4 is pushed against the support 2. It moves slightly in the direction of arrow a in FIG. 2, and presses the outer pad 3b against the opposite side of the rotor 1 via the caliper pawl 4a. Therefore, the rotor 1 is strongly pressed from both sides by the pads 3a and 3b, and braking is performed.

However, in the conventional disc brake that is configured and operates as described above, the piston 5 is built into the caliper 4, which not only requires precision manufacturing of component parts, but also causes high costs. It was difficult to downsize the entire brake.
Furthermore, the force required for braking increases due to the sliding resistance of the sliding portion between the cylinder and the piston, and failures due to oil leakage or rusting at this portion are likely to occur.

The disc brake of the present invention has been devised for the purpose of solving the above-mentioned disadvantages, and obtaining a disc brake that can be configured to be small and lightweight, and does not require precision machining.

FIG. 3 shows the caliper portion of the disc brake of the present invention. The caliper 4 is constructed by connecting two members 6, 7, an outer member 6 and an inner member 7, with bolts 8, 8. The outer member 6 has a vertical wall 9 formed in a portion facing the caliper pawl 4a, so that the cross section thereof has a substantially inverted U-shape. Standing wall 9
A circular hole 10 is bored approximately in the center. The inner member 7 is entirely formed into a thick plate shape, and has a circular recess 11 that fits into the circular hole 10 when combined with the outer member 6. 12 is the recess 11
This is a supply hole for supplying pressure oil inside. A diaphragm-shaped pressing body 13 is sandwiched between the outer member 6 and the inner member 7, which are combined to form the caliper 4. The pressing body 13 has a round plate-shaped metal plate 14 whose center protrudes outward (left side in FIG. 3).

The inner peripheral part of the rubber plate 15 and the metal plate 14 are fixed and supported concentrically, and the joint part between the rubber plate 15 and the metal plate 14 is liquid-tightly joined, and the peripheral edge of the rubber plate 15 has a thick wall part 1.
5a to ensure that the joint between the rubber plate 15 and the caliper 4 is sufficiently liquid-tight. Correspondingly, the outer member 6 and the inner member 7 have grooves 6a and 7a in which the thick part 15a is fitted in a state where the thick part 15a is elastically compressed.

The caliper portion configured as described above has pads 3a and 3b, similar to a conventional disc brake.
It is used by engaging the upper part of the support with a slight sliding movement. When performing braking, when pressure oil is supplied through the supply hole 12 into the space 16 surrounded by the recess 11 and the pressing body 13, the pressing body 13 presses the inner pad 3a against the side surface of the rotor 1, and as a reaction, The caliper 4 slides on the support 2, and the outer pad 3b is pressed against the opposite side of the rotor 1 by the caliper pawl 4a, and the rotor 1 is strongly held down from both sides to perform braking.

The disc brake of the present invention consists of an annular rubber plate 1
Since hydraulic pressure is applied to the metal plate 14 which is fluid-tightly supported with a degree of freedom of movement by the pad 5, the flat surface of the metal plate 14 is brought into close contact with the pad 3a, and this is pressed and braked. Effective braking can be achieved by eliminating uneven contact between the brake and rotor.

Since the pad is pressed by the hydraulic pressure applied to the metal plate 14 in this way, the area of the metal plate 14 should be made as large as possible to about 50 to 70% of the opening area of the recess 11. is valid. The material, size, shape, etc. of the rubber plate 15 are determined in consideration of pressure resistance, durability, and flexibility that allows the metal plate 14 to move freely.

In the above embodiment, a floating type disc brake was described in which the caliper 4 is slidably attached to the support 2 and pressure oil is supplied only to one side of the rotor 1. It goes without saying that the present invention is not limited to this type of disc brake, and can also be applied to an opposed type disc brake in which the pressing body 13 can also be placed on the side of the caliper pawl 4a and pressure oil is supplied to both sides of the rotor 1.

Furthermore, JP-A-50-70777 describes a structure in which a diaphragm is attached to cover the rear part of a ring-shaped piston, and the piston is pushed by hydraulic pressure inside the ring-shaped cylinder. Although it may seem similar to the present invention, the coupling structure between the diaphragm and the piston is different from the present invention, and the piston is not supported by the diaphragm, so it has a different structure from the present invention. It is.

Since the disc brake of the present invention is constructed and operates as described above, it does not require much precision of each constituent part, and since the piston can be omitted, it can be manufactured at low cost, small in size, and light in weight. Furthermore, since there are no sliding parts, less force is required during braking, and failures due to oil leakage or rust can be extremely minimized.
