There is a method in which a photographer manually extracts an intermediate value and uses this intermediate value as an appropriate photometric output (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 17725/1983).

In other words, in the former case, the exposure is determined by the arithmetic average value, so the main subject may be underexposed or overexposed under special field conditions, such as backlight or when the main subject is on snow. Sometimes I put it away. Furthermore, even in the latter case, it not only requires skill to set the intermediate value to provide proper exposure under the above-mentioned special field conditions, but also the setting operation is manual, which inevitably reduces operability.

ができるようになる。 According to the present invention, a plurality of photoelectric outputs are generated by dividing a field into a plurality of areas and photometrically measuring the field, and standardizing the plurality of photoelectric outputs based on an average output of the plurality of photoelectric outputs. A multi-photometering device is provided that classifies a field based on a standardized output and calculates and extracts an appropriate photometering output based on the classified output. According to this device, multiple photoelectric outputs are normalized by the average value of multiple photoelectric outputs and the conditions of the photographic field are analyzed, so the conditions of the photographic field can be accurately detected. This makes it possible to effectively obtain an appropriate photometric output according to the field conditions. below,
The book is illustrated by Figure 1, which represents the screen and the brightness of each part of the screen as a three-dimensional figure, with the field of view (hereinafter referred to as the screen) as the bottom and the brightness of each part of the screen as the height (vertical axis). Describe the basic idea of the invention. 1st a
In the figure, when considering a screen as shown on the bottom surface S 0 , the brightness of the screen determines one curved surface S 1 . In reality, since photometry is performed using a finite number of photoelectric elements, the curved surface that can be captured is a collection of planes with the same number or fewer as there are photoelectric elements. For example, if the screen is divided vertically, horizontally and horizontally using four photoelectric elements, the curved surface showing the brightness of the screen will be the first one.
The quantization is performed stepwise as shown by quantization planes S 2 to S 4 in figures b and c. When comparing quantization planes S 2 and S 4 , the absolute level of the luminance that makes up the quantization planes is the same, but their positions on the screen are different, so it is difficult to determine which luminance should be properly exposed. The judgment on whether or not to get it is also different. Also, when comparing quantization planes S 2 and S 3 , the level difference between adjacent luminances is equal, but
Since the absolute value of brightness between the two quantization planes is different, the determination to obtain the appropriate exposure will also be different. Now, we classify the shooting screen under all conditions into multiple categories based on information regarding brightness and information regarding position, and determine which brightness should be controlled for exposure in each category to obtain an overall appropriate exposure. Attach the correspondence. Then, on a screen under certain conditions, the brightness at which exposure control should be performed can be obtained from the information regarding the brightness and the information regarding the position.

That is, the first brightness level is the maximum value among the plurality of photometric outputs,
The second brightness level is a level that approximately matches the average value of these photometric outputs, and the third brightness level is the minimum value of these photometric outputs. It was found that these values exist between the values and the average values of these photometric outputs.
This average value can be approximated by an average value, median value, or mode.

You will be able to do this. Therefore, if the state of the screen is detected by pattern analysis based on this normalized output, and this detection result is correlated experimentally or empirically with the above three brightness levels, exposure control for the screen under various conditions can be achieved. You can choose the brightness level you want.

電出力を特定の信号に置換することである。 On the other hand, the brightness level at which exposure should be controlled may be determined independently of pattern analysis. The difference between the maximum brightness and the minimum brightness is within a predetermined range, there is little variation in brightness within the screen, the maximum brightness is within a predetermined range, and there are bright light sources such as the sun or spots on the screen. This is a case where it can be determined that there is no artificial light source such as a light. In this case, it has been found that good results can be obtained by adjusting the exposure for the second brightness level.
Note that the above-mentioned standardization of multiple photoelectric outputs involves detecting the magnitude relationship of the multiple photoelectric outputs with respect to the average value of the multiple photoelectric outputs, and standardizing each photoelectric output to a specific value according to the magnitude. It is to replace it with a signal.

The figure is a block diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention. In the same figure; the photometry circuit 10 includes a photoelectric conversion element for photometering each region of the field of view divided into a plurality of regions, and outputs independent analog photoelectric outputs P 0 to P o-1 corresponding to each region of the field of view. Output. This photoelectric output P 0 ~
It is assumed that P o-1 is logarithmically compressed, and therefore the photoelectric output is expressed as a BV value. Maximum value detection circuit 11
inputs the photoelectric outputs P 0 to P o-1 and detects the maximum value P nax from among them. The average value detection circuit 12 receives the photoelectric outputs P 0 to P o-1 as input, and detects their average value, for example, the average value P neao . The minimum value detection circuit 13 receives the photoelectric outputs P 0 to P o-1 as input, and detects the minimum value P nio from among these. The arithmetic circuit 14 receives the maximum value Pnax and the average value Pneao as input and generates the first photometric output PH (BV), that is, PH= k1Pnax + ( 1- k1 ) Pneo ...(1) . The arithmetic circuit 15 outputs the second photometric output PM.
(BV), that is, PM=P neao (2), and can actually be used as the average value detection circuit 12. The arithmetic circuit 16 calculates the minimum value P nio and the average value
The third photometric output PL (BV) with P neao as input,
That is, PL = k2Pnio +(1- k2 ) Pneo ...(3) is generated. The circuits 11 to 16 described above constitute an appropriate photometric output generation circuit.

Input the photoelectric output P 0 ~ P o-1 and the average value P neao ,
The reference output generated based on the average value P neao is compared with the photometric outputs P 0 to P o-1 to convert each photoelectric output into a logical output. Specifically, in the example, i
The output P o-1 at the th position is compared with the average value P neao , and it is set to 1 if P o-1 ≧P neao , and 0 if P o-1 <P neao . If the normalized output is 1, then i
The th position indicates that the area is brighter than the average, and 0 indicates that it is a darker area. That is, the standardization described above takes the form of binarization.

により、より高度なパターン分析が可能となる。 Alternatively, you can do the following. As a reference output based on the average value P neao to divide the overall brightness into bright, dark, and intermediate parts.
In this method, P neao +δH and P neao −δL are set, and binarization is performed for each of these two reference levels. In other words, when Pi>P neao + δH holds, 1, Pi≦P neao
It is set to 0 when +δH holds, 1 when Pi≧P neao −δL, and 0 when Pi<P neao −δL. In this case, the binarized output at the i-th position is two (2 bits). When the outputs are arranged in the order of comparison of P neao + δH and P neao − δL, if the output is 11, it indicates a bright part,
00 indicates a dark area, 01 indicates an area close to the average value (10 does not exist). By dividing the brightness at that position into three levels in this way, more advanced pattern analysis becomes possible.

Includes a circuit that generates a reference output corresponding to Pβ.
This determination operation is performed to identify whether the maximum value P nax is caused by a bright light source including the sun or an artificial light source such as a spotlight. The second judgment circuit 19 inputs the maximum value P nax and the minimum value P nio , calculates ΔP=P nax −P nio (5), and then α≦ΔP≦β (where α and β are constants). ) ...(6) is made and a logic output representing the judgment result is generated. Of course, the second determination circuit 19 includes a circuit that generates reference outputs corresponding to the constants α and β. This judgment operation judges the brightness distribution within the screen, and for example, if the brightness distribution is large and the main subject is on the low brightness side, if you adjust the exposure to the low brightness side, the high brightness side will be off, or vice versa. This is done to prevent the phenomenon where if the main subject is on the high-brightness side and the exposure is adjusted to the high-brightness side, the low-brightness side will be destroyed.

In this embodiment, the apex calculation is performed after the photometric output is extracted, but the invention is not limited to this, and the apex calculation is performed immediately on the photoelectric output and the circuits 11 to 13

At this time, although the level of the output after performing apex calculation on a plurality of photoelectric outputs changes, the magnitude relationship between the levels does not change, so the same operation as described above can be performed. And the first to third photometric outputs are from the BV value.
It comes to represent TV value or AV value.

On the other hand, an input corresponding to the constant α is applied to the in-phase input terminal of the comparator C 3 , and an input corresponding to the constant β is applied to the inverting input terminal of the comparator C 4 . Photoelectric output P 0 ~
A reference input equivalent to P neao −δL is applied to the inverting inputs of comparators C 7 to C 11 that use P 4 as an in-phase input. This level reduction equivalent to δL reduces the photoelectric output P 0
This is to more reliably perform binarization on the low luminance side of ~ P4 . The inverting input of the comparator C 6 , which uses the photoelectric output P 0 as the common-mode input, has P neao + δH.
A significant reference input is applied. This level increase corresponding to δH is to ensure more reliable binarization on the high brightness side of the photoelectric output P0 .

いる。 The maximum value P nax is input to the inverting input terminal of comparator C 1 and the in-phase input terminal of comparator C 2 . The luminance difference ΔP is input to the inverting input terminal of the comparator C3 and the in-phase input terminal of the comparator C4 . The outputs of the comparators C1 to C4 are input to the AND gate AND1 . When the output of the AND gate AND 1 becomes 1, the outputs of the comparators C 1 to C 4 all indicate 1, and Pα≦P nax Pβ……(7)(a) and α≦ΔP≦β……
This is when (7)(b) holds true. Let the output of the AND gate AND 1 be the M flag. OR gate when M flag is 1
The output of OR 1 becomes 1, and the analog switch 22 is turned on to select the second photometric output PM. This is because formula (7) b holds true, indicating that there is a certain degree of brightness difference, but if formula (7) a holds true, then
That is, when the maximum value is within a certain range, there is no backlight condition and the appropriate exposure level exists near the average value. The photoelectric output P 0 is input to the in-phase input terminals of comparators C 6 and C 7 , and the following photoelectric outputs P 1 , P 2 , P 3 and P 4 are input to the comparators C 8 ,
Input to common mode input terminals of C 9 , C 10 , and C 11 .
Further, an output P neao +ΔH obtained by raising the average value by a certain value is input to the inverting input terminal of the comparator C 6 . The output of the comparator C 6 becomes 1 when the photoelectric output P 0 of the central area Dc is higher than the average value P neao by a discernible amount (by δH), indicating that the center of the photographic screen is a bright area. It shows. On the other hand, the inverting input terminals of the comparators C 7 to C 11 receive an output P neao −ΔL obtained by lowering the average value by a certain value. When the outputs of the comparators C 7 to C 11 become 0, the photoelectric outputs P 0 to P 4 are lower than the average value P neao by a discernible amount (by δL ), and the photoelectric outputs P 0 to P 4
This indicates that the corresponding screen is in a dark area.

出力PHが抽出される。 The AND gate AND 2 has comparators C 6 , C 9 ,
The output of C10 and the output inverted by the inverter INV1 of the M flag are input. and gate AND 2
The output of becomes 1 because P 0 > P neao + δH (central area Dc is the bright part) P 2 ≧P neao − δL …(8) P 4 ≧P neao − δL (lower half area Drl, Dll is not a dark area) holds true and the M flag is 0. In such a state, the central region Dc is bright and the upper half region is bright.
When Dru and Dlu are dark, it is like a spot light. Therefore, equation (8) becomes the condition for determining that the main subject is in the bright area. and gate
The output of AND 2 is set as the H flag. Now, when the H flag is 1, that is, when the comparators C 9 and C 10 are outputting 1 and the inverter INV 1 is outputting 1, the analog switch 21 is turned on and the first photometric output PH is extracted. .

Similarly, P 2 <P neao −δL (lower half area Drl P 4 < 〃 Dll is the dark part) ...(11) and P 3 <P neao −δL (right half area Dru P 4 < 〃 Drl is the dark part) If …(12) holds, then Noah gate NOR 2 ,
The output of NOR 3 becomes 1. The outputs of inverter INV 3 and NOR gates NOR 1 to NOR 3 are OR gates.
If the input is input to OR 3 and any output is 1, the output of OR gate OR 3 will be 1. That is, (9) to (12)
This means that if any of the equations holds true, the output of the OR gate OR3 will be 1. If formula (9) holds true, this means that the center of the screen, where there is a high probability that the main subject is located, is a dark area, and it is better to adjust the exposure to the low brightness side. However, even if the center of the screen is bright, it is often due to the brightness of the background, and it cannot necessarily be determined that the main subject is in the bright area. In fact, in backlit situations, the brightness of the main subject will be close to the brightness of the lower part of the screen. Therefore, if equation (11) holds true, it is better to determine that the main subject is in a dark area and select the third photometric output PL. (Ten),
If Equation (12) holds true, it is considered that the camera was held in a vertical position to take a picture. As described above, each of equations (9) to (12) becomes a condition for determining that the main subject is in a dark area. And at this time orgate OR 3
The output of becomes 1. At this time, the AND gate AND 1
If the M flag is 0, that is, if equations (7) (a) and (b) are not satisfied, the inverter INV 1 outputs 1.
Therefore, the AND gate AND 3 outputs 1, turns on the analog switch 23, and outputs the third photometric output.

It is possible to accurately grasp the brightness distribution state within the screen. Furthermore, since the reference output of the present invention is set to have an output level between the maximum value and the minimum value according to a plurality of photoelectric outputs, the overall brightness level of each area within the photographic screen is high ( Even if the brightness is high or low, it is always possible to determine which areas have high brightness and which areas have low brightness. Furthermore, since the present invention generates appropriate exposure information according to the brightness distribution state based on the brightness distribution state within the photographic screen determined as described above, it is possible to You can also automatically obtain exposure information that will give you the correct exposure. Of course, it is possible to easily obtain proper exposure even under special field conditions such as backlighting or spotlight illumination.
