Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable diagnosis of a printed board while mounting an integrated circuit and to reduce a cost by making a socket needless and to decrease working man-hours and to improve efficiency of printed board mounting, by making gate circuits in open states by the input of a diagnostic mode signal and electrically separating the printed board from the integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:In an integrated circuit 20 having a signal input terminal 1 for a diagnostic mode signal, each output signal of a circuit part 10 is connected with each signal output terminal 2 through each of gate circuits comprising three-state elements 3. When a diagnostic mode signal is inputted to the integrated circuit 20 of such circuit composition, the signal output terminals 2 become in open states and the integrated circuit 20 mounted on the printed board becomes in a dismounting state. Therefore, without removing the integrated circuit 20, a diagnosis of the printed board is performed while mounting the circuit.

With this conventional method, when diagnosing printed circuit boards, there is a possibility of defects such as broken pins of the integrated circuit due to the work of attaching and detaching the integrated circuit.Furthermore, not only does the cost increase due to the addition of a socket, but also the space occupied by the socket. This increase will be accompanied by a decrease in printed board mounting efficiency.

Therefore, in this state, the diagnostic device observes the input signal at the signal input terminal of the integrated circuit by bringing its test terminal into contact with the terminal of the integrated circuit, and also sends a desired output signal to the signal output terminal. It becomes possible to diagnose a printed board with the integrated circuit still mounted, such as by diagnosing the signal output terminal and subsequent parts of the integrated circuit.
