Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve resolution and to obtain a device strong to an optical damage by writing the photoelectron image formed on a photoelectric surface to change the optical properties of a liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:The photoelectrons corresponding to input light are released from the photoelectric surface 2 and are accelerated and focused by an electron lens system 3 to form the electron image on a microchannel plate 4. The two-dimensional electron image multiplied by the microchannel plate is supplied to a liquid crystal part 6. The electrons supplied to the liquid crystal part 6 are accumulated on a sheet 61 to form a charge pattern on the surface thereof. An electric field is applied to the liquid crystal 63 by the charge image accumulated on the sheet 61 by which the molecular state of the liquid crystal changes. The reflected light of laser light 7 for reading out is changed in the polarization state when said laser light is projected. A coherent image 10 is obtd. by passing this light through an analyzer 9. The space resolution is thereby improved and the device strong to the optical damage is constituted.
