Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a switch of simple constitution, by opening a circuit in making a phase transition of a superconductor into an ordinary conductor or a semiconductor by overcurrent or temperature rise. CONSTITUTION:An electronic equipment 3 is fed from a power source terminal 2 through a superconducting current switch 4A. In the superconductive current switch 4A of this invention the thickness of the superconductor is selected so that the current flowing when the electronic equipment 3 is in an operative state may be kept lower than the limiting current. If the current exceeding the threshold current flows because of the abnormality of the electronic equipment, the superconductor will be transited in phase to a semiconductor and get approximately into an insulated state, so that no current will flow any more. In case the temperature of the electronic equipment 3 goes up too much and exceeds the critical temperature of the superconductor, then the superconductor will be transited in phase to the semiconductor and no current will flow any more, either.
