Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve efficiency and stabilize an output voltage, by controlling a threshold for a current limiter circuit for turning off a switching element of a converter circuit. CONSTITUTION:A switching regulator effects the full-wave rectification of a commercial power source 11 through a diode bridge rectifying circuit 12 and interrupts the rectified current intermittently through a switching transistor (FET) 14 thereby generating a secondary voltage in the secondary winding converter transformer 15. This voltage is converted into a DC voltage through rectifying and smoothing circuits 16, 17 and the FET 14 is controlled through a voltage control circuit 18 so that the DC voltage becomes a predetermined constant value to supply power to a load 19. In this case, a filter circuit for the switching frequency of the FET 14 is constituted of an inductor 21 and a capacitor 22. Further, a current limiter circuit 24 is provided to interrupt a current for the FET 14 when the current has exceeded the threshold value of the limiter. According to this constitution, a small size primary side capacitor may be employed.
