PURPOSE:To produce the title polyolefin excellent in appearance, weathering resistance, etc., by grafting a silane onto a polyolefin in which carbon is heterogeneously dispersed and fully kneading the mixture to disperse the carbon homogeneously in it. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin such as a pelletized polyethylene and carbon are fed to the hopper H of an extruder E and a radical generator such as dimethyl peroxide and a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing unsaturated silane compound are added dropwise thereto at the hopper mouth HM. The resulting mixture is heated to 130 deg.C or about and well mixed in the deep group zone A of a screw S, heated to 210 deg.C and subjected to grafting in the grafting zone B, while the carbon and the silane-grafted polyolefin are completely kneaded in the shallow zone C of the screw S. The grafting of the silane onto the polyolefin can be sufficiently performed without being inhibited by the carbon, and the carbon can be homogeneously dispersed, so that this process is effective in the production of wires etc. which require an excellent appearance and, especially, excellent weathering resistance.
