Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:An anisole derivative expressed by formula I (R is -CN, -CONH2, -COOH, -COCl, COCH2COOR<1>; R<1> is H or lower alkyl; X is halogen). EXAMPLE:2-Chloro-4,5-difluoro-3-methoxybenzonitrile. USE:Useful as an intermediate for synthesizing an antigermicide, e.g. 1- cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-1, 4-dihydro-8-methoxy-7-(3-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-4-oxo-3-qui noline carboxylic acid. PREPARATION:A 2,3-dihalogeno-5,6-difluoroanisole expressed by formula II (Z is halogen) is reacted with a metal cyanide to afford a compound expressed by formula III in the compound expressed by formula I and then water is added to the resultant compound expressed by formula III to give a compound expressed by formula IV, which is further hydrolyzed to provide the aimed compound expressed by formula I (R is COOH).
