Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the insertion of an optical fiber and to prevent the damaging of the fiber by inserting the fiber into the fine hole of an optical fiber inserting body under the ultrasonic oscillation kept applied thereto in the axial direction at the time of inserting said fiber into said fiber inserting body. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber inserting body 1 is inserted into a perpendicularly erected cylindrical oscillator 7 which is oscillated at, for example, 20-40kHz frequency in an insertion direction, i.e., axial direction A, by an ultrasonic oscillator 6. The inserting body is fixed thereto in such a manner that a notched groove 1b faces the outside. An operator pinches a 1st optical fiber 2-1 by a pincette 4 and inserts the fiber 2-1 into the inserting body while viewing the fiber with a microscope 3 and exerting several gram pressure to the fiber in the progressing direction thereof. The operator matches the slope of the 2nd optical fiber 2-2 and inserts the fiber into the fine hole 1a down to the butt position while oscillating the fiber in the same manner. The contact resistance of the optical fibers with the hole surface is thereby decreased and ]the fibers are more easily progressed in the fine hole. The insertion is thus smoothly carried out, by which the working time is shortened and the possibility of the damage is eliminated.
