Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal head imparting a good printing quality, by a method wherein, a ruthenium-containing metal organic solution is applied by printing and baked as heating resistors, and the obtained heating resistor layer is separated per dot by an etching technique to obtain a descrete pattern. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1 having a heat accumulation layer, a gold electrode pattern is formed. A metal organic solution consisting of Ru and at least one metal M selected from among Si, Bi, Ba, and Pb in a valence number ratio of Ru:M=1:0.5-2.5 is screen printed in strip form and dried so as to cover connection parts 2-1 of a common electrode 2 and discrete electrodes 3 corresponding to each other in the electrode pattern. After that, a photosensitive resist is applied, exposed to light, and developed, whereby a mask pattern 5 shaped by every dot of a heating resistor is formed, and resistor elements 6 are formed by wet etching. After the mask pattern 5 has been peeled, a wear- resistant layer is formed using a thick film glass paste, and a drive IC is packaged.
