Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the printing space between labels to be shortened, by returning label paper at any time point before and after printing. CONSTITUTION:A rotary direction switching part 20 is connected to a drive circuit 19 of a motor 16, and a paper feed instruction part 21 and a paper return instruction part 22 are connected to the switching part 20. A tag paper 4 is cut with a cutter 9 and a label 13 is issued. The paper return instruction part 22 outputs in wait just before a thermal head 3 enters printing operation, and the motor 16 is driven clockwise. The tag paper 4 is returned with a platen 2 thereby and stops at a position where its top edge is located slightly on a cutter 9 side from a printing position. Thereby, consumption of the tag paper 4 can be reduced by shortening the printing space between the labels. Further, the tag paper 4 may be also returned to a printing part 1 just after the tag paper 4 has been cut with the cutter 9.
