PURPOSE:To arrange an automatic assembling device on the downward side of a bearing cap by fastening the tip ends of the extending parts of the bearing cap at a beam part formed on a cylinder block side, thereby preventing the beam part from being exposed to the lower side of the bearing cap. CONSTITUTION:Beam parts 32 extending in a crank shaft direction are monolithically formed on the lower sides of a pair of skirt parts of a cylinder block 1, while a pair of parts 51 extending toward the outside are provided on both sides of respective bearing caps. The tip ends of these extending parts 51 are fastened with respect to the beam members 32 by bolts 7, so the exposure of beam parts 32 to the lower side of the bearing cap can be prevented.
