Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a forming product having high strength, in which ceramic reinforced material spreads to the whole body containing thin part, by plastic working a preform cooled and solidified by charging molten metal, which obtains by dispersing and mixing the ceramic reinforced material to light alloy matrix material, in a die. CONSTITUTION:SiC powder as the ceramic reinforced material is blended to the Al alloy as the matrix material at the prescribed quantity and by heating and melting, the molten metal is obtd. Next, from this molten metal, the sample columnar preform 1 is formed by squeeze casting. As this preform 1 scarcely involves flowing of the molten metal L, the SiC is uniformly dispersed to the Al alloy over the whole column. This preform is housed in bottom part in recessed part 2a of a die 2 and a punch 3 is descended in the recessed part 2a of the die 2 to press the preform 1. Further, by descending the punch 3, the forming product of a valve lifter between the inner peripheral surface 2b of the die 2 and the outer peripheral surface 3a of the punch 3 is obtd.
