Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance of the titled alloy while maintaining the mechanical characteristics of an Al-Si-Cu alloy as a hardener by dispersing Al-Ni intermetallic compound powders into the hardener. CONSTITUTION:Si powders or one or more kinds of intermetallic compound powders among AlNi, Al3Ni and AlNi3 are prepd. Said powders are added into the molten metal of the Al-Si-Cu alloy and they are stirred and mixed. Said mixture is then poured into a mold by a die casting machine. The above- mentioned powders are furthermore uniformly dispersed into the matrix of the Al-Si-Cu alloy.
