Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the height of a dielectric block i.e. the height of a resonator by combining a 1st dielectric block which has a 1st through hole and one end surface and the other end surface open electrically with a 2nd dielectric block which have a 2nd through hole and is provided successively to the 1st dielectric block.
CONSTITUTION: When the heights of the 1st and 2nd dielectric blocks 21 and 22 are denoted as (a) and (b), the light velocity is C, and the dielectric constant is εr, antiresonance of frequency f1 corresponding to C/(a+b)/εr1/2/4 is caused and the resonator based upon the 1st dielectric block 21 resonates at a frequency f2 corresponding to C/a/εr1/2/4. Therefore, the impedance of the resonator becomes infinite at the frequency f1 to enable single transmission and the impedance of the resonator becomes low at the frequency f2, so the transmission quantity of a signal can be attenuated. Consequently, a 1/4-waveform dielectric resonator can be obtained without setting the lengths (a) and (b) of the dielectric blocks 21 and 22 to 1/4 wavelength. Thus, the height is made much less than that of a conventional resonator.
