Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam excellent in insect repellency and useful as a heat-insulating material for construction, a heat-insulating material for agricultural and cattle sheds, etc., by foaming, molding and curing a foamable phenolic resin composition containing an organophosphorus compound. CONSTITUTION:A foamable phenolic composition is obtained by mixing 100pts. wt. phenolic resin (A) (e.g., resol phenolic resin) with 5-30pts.wt. blowing agent (B) (e.g., trichlorofluoroethane), 0.5-5pts.wt. foam stabilizer (C) (e.g., silicone foam stabilizer), 5-40pts.wt. curing catalyst (D) (e.g., phenolsulfonic acid) and 0.01-20pts.wt., preferably, 0.1-5pts.wt. optionally microencapsulated organophosphorus compound (E) of the formula (wherein R<1-2> are each an alkyl, and n is 2-3), e.g., (2-isopropyl-4-methylpyrimidine-6) diethyl phosphate, as an insect repellent. This composition is foamed, molded and cured.
