Abstract

PURPOSE:To fold manually inserted sheet in double or in a Z-like shape by folding the manually inserted sheet with the use of a folding means when the sheet manually inserted through an insertion port is detected. CONSTITUTION:A folding mode is set at an input section of a copying machine. When a sheet S is manually inserted through an insertion port 29, it is detected by a sensor S1 which delivers a signal to a control section C. Then the control section C energizes a folding device body 2 and a finisher device to operate deflectors 27, 33 so that the sheet is led from the copying machine to a folding conveying path 32 and then is led toward a first folding position regulating conveyer path 39 by means of a deflector 40. Further, during bifolding mode, the sheet is made to abut against a stepper 41 so as to be bifolded. Meanwhile during Z-like fold mode, the sheet is made to abut against a stopper 41 while deflectors 46, 51 are operated to fold the sheet in a Z-like shape, a reversed Z-like shape or the like. Thus it is possible to fold a manually inserted sheet into a double or into Z-like shape.
