Abstract

CONSTITUTION: 2-Chloropropionaldehyde is produced by reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound or an oxide of a trivalent organic phosphorus compound. The reaction is carried out in the copresence of at least one kind of a weak acid ammonium salt (e.g. tetraethylammonium acetate or triethylamine acetate) to enable the smooth reaction. The reaction is preferably performed in the presence of water at 20W80°C. The objective compound can be produced in high yield under low temperature and pressure condition without necessitating can be stably proceeded over a long period by the use of a simple apparatus.
