Abstract

PURPOSE:To aim at reduction of wear/damage of a valve seat by inclining forward the seat angle of a return spring in the direction of the fulcrum of an arm for a datum level orthogonally to the axial central line of a valve shaft portion. CONSTITUTION:A datum level F orthogonally crossing to the axial center line of the shaft portion 6b of a valve 6 is formed on a cylinder head body 10. A wedge type shim 7 is fitted on the datum level F and the surface of the shim 7 is inclined to the datum F, forward in the direction of the fulcrum S of the arm 2. A return spring 4 is forced to abut the surface of the shim 7 to be a seat face 10a. Accordingly, the valve can be forced to abut the full circumference of the valve seat 8 so that wear/damage of the valve seat can be reduced.
