Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce variation in air-fuel ratio in the feedback control of air-fuel ratio by increasing the purging quantity from a canister to an intake air system as the density of evaporated fuel in the canister is higher and increasing the trapping capacity of the canister. CONSTITUTION:The detected values of an air flow meter 8, an intake air temperature sensor 9, a water temperature sensor 10, and an O2 sensor 12, etc., are inputted into a control unit 16, which, in turn, carries out the feedback control of air-fuel ratio via a fuel injection valve 4 while also controlling the purging quantity of evaporated fuel from a canister 12 into an intake air system via a purging quantity regulating valve 15. That is, as the control unit 16 judges the density of evaporated fuel to be high based on the average value of air-fuel ratio feedback correcting quantity, it increases the opening of a purging quantity regulating valve 15 to increase the purging quantity.
