Abstract
PURPOSE:To selectively and efficiently recover esters known as an aromatic component from a fermentation gas, by bringing a gas generated from an alcoholic fermentation process into contact with a specific adsorbent and desorbing the adsorbed components. CONSTITUTION:A gas generated in an alcoholic fermentation process, such as Japanese rice wine, wine, beer or soy sauce, is brought into contact with an adsorbent selected from dealuminated Y-type zeolite having >=10 molar ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 and pentasil type high-silica zeolite, such as ZSM-5,having >=50 molar ratio of the SiO2/Al2O3 at ambient temperature under ordinary pressure and then treated with an organic solvent, such as ethanol, in a liquid or gaseous state or steam to readily desorb the adsorbed components and recover esters from the fermentation gas. Either of H ion exchange type and zeolite exchanged with nontoxic alkaline (earth) metal ions, such as Na, K, Mg or Ca, may be used as the above-mentioned zeolite.
