Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled conducting wire combining high strength with high electric conductivity and excellent in heat resistance, by subjecting an Al alloy containing Zr, Cu, etc., in a specific blending ratio to refining, to casting, and then to treatment under the prescribed conditions. CONSTITUTION:An alloy consisting of, by weight, 0.29-1.0% Zr, 0.31-1.0% Cu, 0.03-0.4% Si, 0.08-0.8% Fe, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities is refined and then cast at >=5 deg.C/sec cooling rate, which is subjected, while cooled from 450-580 deg.C at >=5 deg.C/sec cooling rate, to working at >=70% reduction in area until a finishing temp. of <=200 deg.C is reached so as to be formed into a rough drawing wire. This rough drawing wire is subjected to heat treatment at 280-480 deg.C for 6-250hr and successively to cold working at >=60% draft so as to be formed into the conducting wire. Further, it is desirable to apply heat treatment at about 200-450 deg.C for about 1-10hr after the above cold working.
