Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an element having a large nonlinear index by causing a semiconductor which is covered with an insulating coating containing MnO2 and Pr6O11 to be mounted on one side electrode of an insulating substrate and at the other electrode side, by causing its lower layer side to be hardened with an insulating bonding agent and then by causing its upper layer side to be hardened with a conductive paste. CONSTITUTION:ZnO fine particles are burnt and ground and then MnO2 and Pr6O11 are added to the above particles and they are treated with heat in the air and an insulating coating of oxide is formed. They are untied by a mortar and the like and then glass powders having a low fusing point as well as organic binders of ethyl cellulose and the like are mixed in the above fine powders as bonding agents and the fine powders become paint-like. The paint- like powders are applied to a glass substrate 2 where indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrode 1 is mounted and they are treated with heat in the air. On the other hand, the electrode 3 at the other side is screen-printed with a carbon paste and then a nonlinear element 4 is obtained. This approach makes a voltage nonlinear index large in a low current region.
