PURPOSE:To surely inform of the presence of paper in a device body to a copying machine body by using the simple constitution by installing a photoelement into the connection part of the device body opposed to a copied material detecting means of the copying machine body and lighting up said photoelement according to the detection faculty of the copied material detecting means of the device body. CONSTITUTION:A recessed part 13c is formed on the back surface of the connection part 13 of a paper feeding device, and a photodiode 119 is installed inside the recessed part 13c. The recessed part 13c is formed at the position opposed to a paper sensor SC installed onto a copying machine body. The photodiode 119 lights up when the presence of paper is judged by the paper exhaustion detecting member or the paper exhaustion detecting sensor, while lights off when the paper exhaustion is judged. Therefore, the presence of paper in the paper feeding device can be informed to the paper sensor SC of the copying machine body, and the presence of paper can be surely informed to the copying machine body.
