Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester, having excellent hydrolytic resistance and flame retardance and suitable as fibers, films, etc., by adding and reacting a specific phosphorus compound with a dicarboxylic acid (derivative) and ethylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aromatic dicarboxylic acid (derivative) and (B) ethylene glycol are subjected to reaction, such as ester interchange, and (C) a phosphorus compound expressed by the formula (A and B are 1-20C organic group; R is ester-forming functional group; n is 0-500), such as tris(hydroxymethyl) phosphine oxide, is then added so as to provide 0.05-2.0wt.% phosphorus atom. content. Polycondensation is subsequently carried out to afford the aimed polyester.
