Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the extent of reflection from a back plate as well as to aim at improvement in a contrast by forming this back plate with carbon. CONSTITUTION:A transparent electrode 2 is parallelly set up on a glass substrate 1 linearly in large numbers. Next, a dielectric layer 3 consisting of Al2O3 is formed on the electrode 2, and an illuminant layer 4 consisting of material made up of adding Mn to ZnS is formed on the dielectric layer and furthermore a dielectric layer 5 consisting of Al2O3 is formed on the illuminant layer. Afterward, carbon black is deposited on the layer 5 by means of an evaporation method, forming a back plate layer. This back plate layer is linearly formed in a direction orthogonal with the electrode 2, thus a carbon back plate 6 is formed. An element obtained like this is less in reflection from this back plate 6 and, what is more, the easy-to-see of a display surface and a contrast are thus improved.
