Abstract

PURPOSE:To readily obtain plant bodies of arboreous plants, by cultivating protoplasts of the arboreous plants together with protoplasts of herbaceous plants and differentiating the cultivated protoplasts. CONSTITUTION:Calluses or shoots or arboreous and herbaceous plants are preferably independently subjected to enzymic treatment to isolate protoplasts and both are mixed (preferably at 1:3-3:1 ratio of the arboreous plants to the herbaceous plants). The resultant mixture is then cultivated in an artificial liquid culture medium containing a composition of inorganic salts, support agent and plant hormones at 20-30 deg.C to form calluses. Only the calluses of the arboreous plants are transferred to a redifferentiation culture medium to regenerate shoots, roots and regrow the plant bodies.
