Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain effective water-proofing work of a manhole by a method in which a deformed rigid or semi-rigid synthetic resin water-proofing material having a smaller diameter than manhole is inserted into the manhole and pressed by heating to restore it to its original form in such a way as to closely cover the inner surface of the manhole with the water-proofing material. CONSTITUTION:An adhesive layer 4 is formed on the inner surface of manhole (a), and a cylindrical water-proofing material 1 folded into a small diameter is inserted into the manhole to restore its upper end opening 2 to an oblong form. A hollow stopper 5 is fitted in the opening 2 and expanded by compressed air to close the opening 2, and steam is supplied through a flow path 5a into the material 1 to restore it to a cylindrical form in such a way as to closely cover the inner surface of the manhole. Compressed air for steam is further supplied, the material 1 is discharged and hardened by cooling, and the opening 2 is with the stopper 5 is removed. Highly advanced water-proofing work can thus be stably and surely secured for each construction work.
