Abstract

PURPOSE:To form an A/D converter onto a board of comparatively small in size by forming a part of a comparator and a part of an encoder to the same region in the A/D converter composed of lots of comparators and encoders. CONSTITUTION:The A/D converter consists of lots of comparators 1 detecting stepwise a level of an analog input signal, a 1st encoder 2 and a 2nd encoder (not shown) applying code conversion to the comparison output of the lots of the comparators 1. The comparator 1 and the encoder are formed as a semiconductor integrated circuit, the 1st encoder 2 is constituted by the wired logic and a bipolar transistor Q1 being an output stage of each comparator 1 is formed under the wire region 102 with the 1st encoder 2 formed thereto. Thus, a part of the comparators and a part of the encoders are formed on the same region, then the A/D converter is formed on a semiconductor board of comparatively small in size.
