Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the sepn. accuracy of molten iron and molten slag by providing an optical fiber scope which detects the respective hues of molten iron and molten slag and stopping the discharge of the molten iron in accordance with a change in the hues. CONSTITUTION:A molten slag outflow detector 9 constituted of refractories 8 and the optical fiber scope 6 is installed near a tap hole 2 of a molten iron container such as converter 1. The information in the received light from the optical fiber scope 6 during the taking out operation of the molten iron 3 is analyzed by an image processor 7, by which the wavelength distribution analysis of the information on the received light is executed. The start of the outflow of the slag 4 is detected and the discharge of the molten steel from the converter 1 is immediately stopped at the point of the time when the ratio of the yellow light indicating the slag 4 exceeds 30%. Operators' personal errors are thereby eliminated and the sure sepn. of the molten iron (molten steel) 3 and the slag 4 is executed. The sepn. accuracy of the molten iron 3 and the molten slag 4 is thus improved.
