Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve melting speed while assuring the safety of power feeding by providing two energizing surfaces via grooves to the surfaces of the power feed plates which face a band-shaped electrode and specifying the installation width of the power feed surfaces to the specific ratio of the width of the band- shaped electrode. CONSTITUTION:The grooves 5 are provided at the center of the energizing surfaces 4 of the power feed plates 2. The installation width W of the surfaces 4 is set 0.30-0.70 times the width of the band-shaped electrode 1. The surfaces 4 are so positioned that the entire part of the electrode 1 is heated uniformly over the entire part near the central part. The power feeding to the electrode is stably assured and the melting speed of the electrode is improved by such constitution.
