Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the breakdown voltage of an indication element by coating the sides of an electrode with polyimide resin solution, flattening the steps due to electrode, and enlarging the step coverage of an insulating layer or an EL light emitting layer. CONSTITUTION:Polyimide resin solution is coated directly on a transparent electrode 2 to form a polyimide resin layer 10. The film type EL indication element obtained has a high breakdown voltage. The polyimide resin is an insulating material with high withstand voltage, and polyimide resin layer 10 thus formed functions also as an insulating layer. Thus the withstand voltage of the indication element is increased.
