Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a woven fabric having dyed pattern by forming an area scarcely wettable with water in which a water-insoluble hydrophobic composition is left and an area which is readily wettable by action of a high velocity water stream on the fiber surface and dyeing only a part which is readily wettable with an aqueous dye. CONSTITUTION: A high velocity jet fluid (e.g. water) is jetted to woven fabric fiber continuously rotating and treated by using a water repellent such as a water-insoluble composition, e.g. fluorocarbon by an orifice assembly, e.g. having 0.007-0.03 inch diameter and the water repellent of jetted part is removed to form an area which is readily wettable with water in a desired pattern-like shape and then, subjected to pad treatment by using an aqueous dyeing agent to provide a fiber having dyed pattern in which only area which is readily wettable obtained by action of the high velocity fluid is colored and scarcely wettable area leaving other water repellent is not dyed. Furthermore, a dyed material forming various pattern is obtained by controlling the high velocity jet stream or forming an orifice in multistage shape.
