Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking or fixing to a magnetic head in high-humidity environment by forming a thin film consisting of carbon allotrope contg. hydrogen and nitrogen on a thin chromium nitride film layer formed on the surface of a thin magnetic film layer, thereby constituting a lubricating protective layer having a two-layered structure. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-P plating underlying layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1 and the surface of this plating underlying layer 2 is finished by machining to a high-accuracy specular face of 0.003mum Ra surface roughness. The thin magnetic film layer 3, the hard thin film layer (1st protective film) 4 consisting of chromium nitride to form the protective film having the two-layered structure and the dense thin film layer (2nd protective film) 5 consisting of the carbon allotrope contg. hydrogen and nitrogen are thereafter formed. The adhesiveness of the protective films is thereby improved and the coefft. of friction is extremely lowered in spite of repetitive use. Generation of head sticking is substantially obviated.
