Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve electromagnetic conversion characteristics and traveling durability and to cure a specific polycarbonate polyurethane resin in a short period so that the process for production is shorten by incorporating said resin into a magnetic layer and subjecting the resin to a radiation irradiation treatment. CONSTITUTION:The polycarbonate polyurethane resin having at least one kind of the polar group selected from the group consisting of -COOM, -SO3M, -OSO2M, -SH, -PO3M'2, and -OPO3M'2 and unsatd. carbon bond is incorporated into the binder of the magnetic layer contg. the ferromagnetic powder dispersed in the binder on a nonmagnetic base and is subjected to the radiation treatment, where M is a hydrogen atom, alkali metal atom, ammonium; M' is a hydrogen atom, alkali metal atom, ammonium, alkyl group. The content of the binder is 10-100wt.% of the ferromagnetic powder. The polycarbonate polyurethane resin is usable independently or in combination with other binders. The resin is incorporated preferably at >=15wt.% of the total binder into the binders in the case of using the resin in conjunction with the other binders.
