Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve defrosting capability and shorten defrosting time by metering a predetermined amount of a refrigerant in a metering part with opening/closing operation of first and second opening/closing mechanisms to force the refrigerant to flow out to a hot gas circulation circuit, and releasing part of the hot gas to a condenser side when discharge line pressure exceeds a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION: When frost is produced in an evaporator 4 and defrosting operation is performed, a first opening/closing mechanism 8 is closed for pump-down operation in which operation a refrigerant is contained from a downstream side of the first opening/closing mechanism 8 to a part of a condenser 2, and hence a second opening/ closing mechanism 9 is closed, and in a metering part 10 there is metered a refrigerant amount that takes as a reference an optimum amount when defrosting operation is performed when the atmosphere is low, and the metered refrigerant is flowed out to a hot gas circulation circuit. Accordingly, defrosting capability is improved for secure defrosting. When the atmosphere is high, pressure of the hot gas circulating the hot gas circulation circuit becomes high, and a part of the hot gas is released to a condenser 2 side by flow rate control means 11 whereby the defrosting operation is continued with an optimum hot gas amount.
