Abstract
PURPOSE:To adequately control the tension of a band-shaped material in a furnace and to execute a heat treatment under adequate tension by providing a tension detector along the locus in the furnace where the band-shaped material is intended to pass and providing a tension control mechanism along the locus on the outside of the furnace where the band-shaped material is intended to pass. CONSTITUTION:Atmosphere sealers 8, 9 of a contact type are respectively provided in an inlet 3 and an outlet 4 of a furnace body 2. The inside of the furnace body 2 is partitioned by a partition wall 5 to a heating chamber 6 and a cooling chamber 7. The tension detector 10 is provided along the locus in the furnace where the band-shaped material S is intended to pass and the tension controller 11 is provided along the locus on the outside of the furnace where the band-shaped material S is intended to pass. The band-shaped material A is passed in the furnace body 2 along the locus where said material is intended to pass and is subjected to a prescribed heat treatment. The tension detector 10 detects the tension and feeds the signal to the tension controller 11 to decrease the tension to be applied to the band-shaped material S in the direction B when the band-shaped material S is going to rise in, for example, the direction A in the inlet 3. The band-shaped material S is thereby maintained under the tension of approximately the specified intensity and is thus subjected to the adequate heat treatment.
