Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove higher harmonics by providing two pairs of power converters each composed of a thyristor rectifier and an inverter in parallel with each other and by connecting a capacitor to the output side of said power converters via insulating transformers and diode rectifiers, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The AC ends of three-phase bridge rectifier connected thyristor rectifiers 10 of a power converter are connected to a three-phase AC power and inverters 5 each composed of a single-phase bridge via a reactor 2 are connected with the DC output ends of said thyristor rectifiers. Also, insulating transformers 6 and diode rectifiers 7 are inserted in the output side of said inverters 5 and a common capacitor 8 is connected thereto. Thus, the thyristor rectifiers 10 are juxtaposed with each other and controlled and rectified at phase control angles differing from each other, and controlled by respective inverters 5 in the latter stage to form triangular wave-shaped current waves with a 180 deg. phase difference from each other. As a result, the power factor of a power source can be controlled to about 1.
